Master of Business Administration with an option in New Ventures and Entrepreneurial Studies

The MBA with an option in New Ventures and Entrepreneurial Studies offers the skills to start new organizations or to develop new ventures within existing organizations. This curriculum will stimulate your creative drive and teach you how to launch new products and services. You will develop your managerial and technical skills, your base of corporate contacts, and the expertise and confidence needed to succeed with new ventures.
The MBA with an option in New Ventures and Entrepreneurial Studies and the Essential of Entrepreneurship graduate certificate program at Penn State Great Valley appeal to:
- Entrepreneurs: starting new businesses;
- Intrapreneurs: starting new ventures within existing organizations;
- Social Entrepreneurs: starting ventures that benefit the community.
Courses are offered in a 7-week format. Classes meet 2 evenings a week. Several classes in the 7-week format are held on Saturdays. There are six 7-week sessions each academic year. You may begin at the start of any session.
Admission requirements
Applicants should
- Hold a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university;
- Have a working knowledge of statistics and accounting;
- Submit all necessary forms, documentation, and fees;
- Have at least 3 years of professional work experience.
Degree requirements
Students should meet preprogram requirements in quantitative and communication skills via previous course work or take up to 6 credits of pre-program requirements. The MBA with an option in New Ventures and Entrepreneurial Studies requires up to 45 credits. Students may be exempt from up to 15 credits from the MBA core courses through previous academic preparation.
Management Faculty
The Management faculty represents a mix of academic scholars and business professionals. The full-time professors all hold doctoral degrees and have professional experience in corporations, nonprofits, or as entrepreneurs. Adjunct professors from corporate and entrepreneurial ventures supplement fundamental management theories with current marketplace experience.
