Part-time Instructors for Instructional Systems Program/Education Division

Penn State Great Valley is seeking adjunct part-time instructors to teach technology-related courses in its Instructional Systems Master of Education program and in its E-learning graduate certificate program. The Instructional Systems program offers graduate instruction in the design, development, implementation, and evaluation of face-to-face training and technology-based instruction.

Qualifications: Candidates must hold an earned doctorate in technology, education, or a closely related field. Experience creating and implementing e-learning solutions in a corporate, non-profit, or educational setting is highly desirable. In addition, the candidate must have practical experience in instructional design for e-learning and be familiar with current e-learning software and tools. Experience with Adobe Presenter, Adobe Connect, Captivate, and Moodle (or similar applications) is highly desirable.

Responsibilities: Develop and teach graduate-level technology courses focusing on e-learning design and delivery. Courses are delivered primarily face-to-face, though some class sessions of a course may be online (i.e., blended course delivery). Topics to be covered include synchronous and asynchronous learning, multimedia, creating interactions and visual design for a variety of platforms, and integration of social learning software.

Setting: Penn State Great Valley offers graduate and professional development programs for working adults. Classes are offered in the evenings and on weekends at the Great Valley campus located in the Great Valley Corporate Center in Malvern, PA. In addition, the E-learning graduate certificate may be offered during daytime hours both on and off-campus.

Assistant Professor, Systems Engineering

Penn State Great Valley School of Graduate Professional Studies is seeking qualified applicants for a faculty appointment in the area of systems engineering.  In addition to teaching and research, Penn State Great Valley faculty members perform program, campus, and university service assignments.  Required qualifications include a Ph.D. in systems engineering or a closely related field, and a demonstrated record of research accomplishments, preferably in systems design, software systems, or system integration.  Prior teaching experience (preferably at the graduate level) is desirable.   Experience in the systems engineering field in government or industry is highly valued. The position will be available starting Fall semester 2010 and may be either tenure track or multi-year fixed term, depending on the qualifications, interests, and goals of the candidate.

Maintenance

Third-shift, full-time position is available from 11 p.m. - 7:30 a.m.
40 hours per week

Job responsibilities:

  • Collect waste from work areas
  • Dust
  • Mop floors
  • Wet mop floors
  • Spot clean and vacuum rugs, runners, etc.
  • Operate cleaning equipment
  • Clean stairways, lobbies
  • Wash glass, mirrors, light fixtures, wainscoting, railings, toilet fixtures, etc.
  • Clean restrooms and stock dispensers
  • Wash windows, sills, etc. wash and polish furniture, brass, etc.
  • Replace light bulbs
  • Seasonal snow removal and landscaping
  • Maintain equipment and materials used to perform work in a clean and orderly condition
  • Lock doors
  • Shovel snow, chip ice, spread salt
  • Report needed repairs to supervisor

High School Education or equivalent required. Must be able to read, write and follow written and verbal instructions.  Lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.  Custodial experience required.  Must be dependable and have reliable transportation. Valid Driver's license required.
