How to decrease your loan

Stafford Loans at Penn State Great Valley are first offered to students in an amount to cover tuition and fees at Great Valley rates for the number of credits the student reports at time of loan request.

A student can adjust that loan amount up or down as needed. Each student has the right to refuse any portion of their loan for up to 30 days after disbursement.

To decrease the amount of a federal student loan offered, log on to eLion, choose Loan Decrease from the left-hand menu and follow the prompts to bring the loan amount down to the dollar amount you desire to borrow for that semester.

Monitor your Student Aid Summary closely to verify that your loan decrease request has taken affect.
