Family Fest Tailgate a Hit!

On Saturday, October 20, 2007, the Penn State Great Valley Graduate Alumni Society Board hosted its first "Penn State Family Fest Tailgate" in the Conference Center. More than 100 alumni, family, faculty, staff, and friends came to watch the Penn State/Indiana football game live on the campus' thirty-foot screen and enjoy a host of activities.

Guests enjoyed food, games, a visit from the Nittany Lion, and much more. Children played carnival games with prizes, face-painting, hair-coloring, and hip-hop dance and Tae-Kwon-Do clinics. Many Penn State related prizes were distributed through giveaways, sweepstakes, and a silent auction, including Penn State football tickets and a color lithograph of the 1986 Fiesta Bowl signed by several players from the national championship team.

Close to $5,000 was raised and all proceeds will benefit the Penn State Great Valley Alumni Achievement Scholarship Fund.

"We had a great time at this event-particularly our five year-old son Connor who loved the Lion and the games and activities tailored for kids," said Lori Ridyard, '89 LA, who attended with husband Rob Ridyard, '01 M.INSC. "It's nice to see that PSU is having more family-oriented events... I'm all for starting the brainwashing early!"
